Such an eclectic and unique array of boats in our collection!
That's a just sampling of the wonderful collection of boats, ranging in size from working remote control models of sail, power, and steam vessels all the way to the former live-aboard schooner, GEM. - Historic Friendship Sloops, Black Jack and Persistence - icons of the 19th century workman's transportation and fishing craft
- Schooner GEM of Penobscot Bay, a ferro cement vessel, currently "on the hard" at the museum
- A Payson built Metinic Island Chopping Tray in our H.M. Payson Boat Shed
- A steam powered launch, complete with a fully functioning calliope
- Two Herreshoff 12-1/2 - classically designed small sailing vessels (Skimmer and Meriweather)
- A fleet of Optimist Prams, giving area youngsters a chance to get out on the water
