Learn the Art of Sail!
Located on the shores of Rockland's working waterfront, the MidCoast Sailing Center is an educational program of the Sail, Power, and Steam Museum, providing classroom and on-board sailing experiences, education in seamanship skills, and exposure to the lure of the sea and Maine's maritime history. We are dedicated to inspiring a lifelong love of sailing and maritime heritage through exceptional education, hands-on experiences and community engagement.
Midcoast Sailing Center (MCSC) offers a diverse range of programs designed to make sailing accessible, educational, and engaging for sailors of all ages and skill levels. From our free beginner youth sailing program, Sail Kids For Free (SKFF), to private lessons, advanced youth sailing, and experiential on-the-water clinics for all ages, we provide hands-on learning opportunities that build confidence, community and seamanship. Our boat rental program allows experienced sailors to explore Rockland Harbor aboard a variety of classic and performance vessels, while our educational talks and workshops, such as Boat Talk, On the Water and Captains’ Quarters, connect the community with maritime experts. Whether you’re learning the basics, refining your skills, or simply looking to get out on the water, MCSC fosters a welcoming environment that supports lifelong engagement with sailing and the sea.
